Overview

Humimic SimuGel™ #4 provides very low resistance and high deformation, making it well suited for simulating soft internal layers and delicate structures. It is often used within layered models to create contrast between surface resistance and deeper compliance.

This formulation prioritizes tactile feedback and deformation while remaining stable enough for repeated training use.

Typical Use Scenarios

  • Layered phantom construction
  • Soft internal structure simulation
  • Palpation training
  • Specialized catheter or implant training

Mechanical & Acoustic Overview

Each SimuGel™ formulation is mechanically and acoustically characterized to ensure consistent, repeatable performance across training and testing environments.

  • Mechanical validation: Batches are compression- and needle-tested using standardized methods to verify resistance, deformation, and recovery behavior.
  • Batch consistency: Reported website values represent validated population ranges; batch-specific results are provided on the Certificate of Analysis included with each unit.
  • Ultrasound compatibility: SimuGel™ supports ultrasound imaging with predictable acoustic behavior across common clinical frequencies.
  • System-based design: Mechanical and acoustic properties are part of the calibrated SimuGel™ 0–5 formulation system and are intended to be interpreted in context across the full material range.

What is SimuGel #4 used for?
+

Very soft tissue simulation—ideal for HRT pellet placement, catheter insertion through soft tissue, organ biopsy training, and soft lesion palpation.

How does SimuGel #4 compare to other formulations?
+

Gel 4 is very soft (0.13 MPa)—softer than Gel 0-3. It’s designed for liver, spleen, and adipose tissue rather than muscle or denser organs.

Is it suitable for ultrasound imaging?
+

Yes. The very soft, compliant texture works well with linear ultrasound probes for imaging soft organ structures and guided procedures.

Can I reuse this material multiple times?
+

Yes. SimuGel #4 withstands repeated needle insertions and procedures. Remelt when surface damage accumulates to restore the material.

Can I customize it with dyes?
+

Yes. The clear base accepts Humimic tissue dyes including tan dye for creating anatomically realistic soft tissue models.
